Introduction
The AppleShare IP 6 product line has many significant features and improvements, such as built-in support for Windows file sharing and the AppleShare IP Mail Server supports the Internet standard IMAPv4 protocol. Support for these open standards means that AppleShare IP is fully compatible with Macintosh and Windows clients; therefore allowing for an even broader opportunity to develop for the AppleShare IP technology. Within this SDK, you will find detailed developer documentation, interfaces, libraries and sample code that will allow you to develop your applications and plug-ins for the AppleShare IP and AppleShare Client APIs.
New with AppleShare IP 6.3
AppleShare IP 6.3 is the latest update to the AppleShare IP 6 product family and builds upon the existing AppleShare IP product by continuing to provide the complete suite of LAN and Internet services, including Web, File, Mail and Print services. New for version 6.3 is full compatibility with Mac OS 9.0, allowing server administrators to take advantage of the latest improvements in the Mac OS. AppleShare IP 6.3 also eliminates the dependencies of the earlier versions of the administration applications on OpenDoc and replaces the administration with a single integrated management system, called Mac OS Server Admin. Mac OS Server Admin allows for both local and remote administration. In addition, AppleShare IP 6.3 provides many bug fixes and general performance improvements. AppleShare IP retains its traditional ease of use with a single administration console, making it simple to manage AppleShare users, groups, passwords and security.
With the AppleShare IP 6.3 SDK, we have made several changes to existing files and additionally have provided some new files. The AppleShare Client API and ASIP Print Security Protocol are now available within this SDK as well as a new 2-Way Random UAM within the Tools folder. This SDK includes updated Server Control Calls & Event Handling and AppleShare IP Registry header files, as well as updated AppleShare IP Client & Server KlearText UAM projects that will further your development of and take greater advantage of the AppleShare IP and AppleShare Client APIs.
